A great thing about the internet is you can connect with people all over the world. Here is a list of a few forums that I joined and I believe would be beneficial for indie/self-published authors.
Start interacting with readers, authors, publicists etc. You wouldn't believe the different connects you can make with people on these sites! You have to join the discussions or start your own discussions.
